Our church has started a new series on prayer and today begins 21 days of prayer. So I began today with a prayer from an open, joyful and thankful heart. I prayed for a light to my path and that I will be a God pleasing woman. I also want to be a prayerful woman that is consistent in talking to God.
I prayed for my husband to have discernment and wisdom, that he can prioritize his daily tasks. I also prayed that he can clearly see his steps ahead to make him efficient and productive at work and that on the weekends he can get rest.
I pray that my children can hear the voice of God and will learn to follow that voice to do the right things. And that they will have a strong confidence and security in who they are in the Lord.
I also prayed that we all go to God first when making decisions and choices and follow the plan and direction that He has for us. I hope that we shine the light of Jesus for everyone to see and that we will live out His will.
I looked up some verses regarding prayer and wanted to note the ones that stood out the most to me.
I will start with one of my favorites, 1 Thessalonians 15:16-18 "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. James 5:16
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. Romans 8:26
The Lord has heard my cry for mercy; the Lord accepts my prayer. Psalms 6:9
You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you. Hear my prayer, Lord; listen to my cry for mercy. When I am in distress, I call to you, because you answer me. Psalms 86:5-7
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins. Mark 11:24-25
